Who are the rich today? What impact do they have on French society?
For sociologist Monique Pinçon-Charlot, the rich subject the rest of society to unprecedented violence. In 2025, taxing the wealthiest on a tax basis that includes the value of the production tool during a fiscal year, to exceptionally increase tax revenues and thus close part of the budget deficits and reduce the public debt, is a return to a common effort of all taxpayers.
This tax does not call into question the private ownership of the means of production, it only limits the amount of the increase in private wealth until a return to a balanced budget and until a sufficient reduction in public debt.
When the richest refuse this common effort, the political and legislative sanction, logically, calls into question this private property of the means of production to use again the common property of the means of production. This allows for a more equitable redistribution of the wealth produced by the work of all. Otherwise, the financial crisis becomes a political and social crisis that destroys this pseudo-democratic society that has become an unbearable plutocracy.
